BLM Seeks Information on Illegal Waste Dumping, Reward Offered

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has announced a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of an individual witnessed dumping chemical waste material onto public lands near the Cerro Coso Community College in Ridgecrest, California.

The incident took place on the morning of August 21 and involved a single individual driving a white, standard cab pickup truck with a large, square tank mounted in the cargo bed.

The chemicals released created a crusty residue over approximately 100 square feet of public lands near hiking and mountain bike trails popular with the local community.  Cleanup is underway in order to provide for the safety of recreational visitors to the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact BLM Law Enforcement at (760) 384-5460.
